Your Marketing Foundation Matters.
Most marketing problems are not caused by one bad campaign, weak ad, or inconsistent social post. They usually start earlier.
Before marketing can perform consistently, the foundation underneath it needs to be solid. This assessment helps you see what is working, what is missing, and what needs attention first.
A Strong Foundation Answers:
- Who do you help?
- What problem do you solve?
- How clear is your offer?
- How are leads captured?
- How does follow-up happen?
- What does success look like?
What It Reveals
Reveal the gaps in your marketing foundation
This assessment focuses on the core pieces that support every marketing system. If these areas are weak, unclear, disconnected, or undocumented, marketing becomes harder than it needs to be.
01
Foundations
Clarify positioning, audience, and messaging.
If a stranger can’t tell who you help and why you are different, every channel has to work harder.
02
Offer
Evaluate offer clarity and offer structure.
A clear offer tells buyers what they get, what it costs, and what to do next. A vague one stalls good leads.
03
Proof
Review trust signals, testimonials, and case studies.
Buyers look for evidence before they reach out. Missing proof shows up as interest that never converts.
04
Channel
Identify whether your channels are focused and sustainable.
Two channels run well beat six run halfway. This area checks whether your effort matches your capacity.
05
Funnel
Assess lead capture and follow-up systems.
Leads that arrive with no capture point or follow-up get paid for and then lost.
06
Measurement
See whether success is being measured clearly.
Without a few agreed numbers, every decision becomes a guess about what is working.
How It Works
Each question is scored from 0 to 2
Ten questions, two points each, for a maximum score of 20. Each answer reflects whether that piece of your marketing is clear, documented, and working today.
The total shows the overall strength of your foundation. The area scores matter more, because they show which gap to close first. A low score in one area is a starting point, not a verdict on your business.
How answers are scored:
- 0: Not really, or I am not sure.
- 1: Sort of, but it is fuzzy.
- 2: Yes, clearly and in writing.
Why It Matters
Marketing gets inconsistent results when the foundation is unclear
When positioning, messaging, offer clarity, lead capture, and follow-up are not aligned, businesses often respond by adding more tactics.
- More content
- More platforms
- More ads
- More automation
- More tools
This assessment helps you spot the gap upstream before you spend more time, money, or energy layering tactics on top of it.
Do any of these sound familiar?
- “We’ve tried everything.”
- “Nothing sticks.”
- “Leads are unpredictable.”
- “People still do not fully understand what we do.”
If so, there are likely issues to address in your foundations.
Good Fit
Check whether it fits where you are
This assessment is for you if:
- You know something is off, but can’t pinpoint where
- Leads show up unpredictably, with no clear pattern
- You keep adding tactics without seeing results change
- Your messaging shifts depending on who’s asking
- You’re about to invest more in marketing and want to know it will hold
- You have the pieces in place, but they aren’t working together
This is not for you if:
- You want a quick hack, not a real diagnosis
- You’re hoping one tool or platform will fix everything
- You’re not ready to act on what the results show
- You want to skip positioning, messaging, and offer decisions and go straight to tactics
Built From Experience
A practical diagnosis, not a generic marketing quiz
Amy Reis built this assessment after watching the same pattern repeat across dozens of businesses. The tactics get blamed first, but the real gap almost always sits earlier, in positioning, messaging, or the offer itself.
The questions come from real strategy sessions, not a quiz template. Over 30 years, Amy has led marketing from the inside, run it from the outside as a consultant, and built the systems that connect the two. The assessment reflects what breaks a marketing plan, and what it takes to fix it.
Backed By Data
The foundation shows up in the numbers, too
23%
Revenue increase for businesses with consistent brand presentation across every channel.
21x
More likely a lead qualifies when a business follows up within 5 minutes instead of 30.
27%
Higher win rates for sales organizations that work from a content strategy.
None of these numbers come from having more tactics. They come from having the foundation underneath those tactics in place first.
Take the Next Step
Find the gaps before they cost you more time and money
If your marketing feels harder than it should, the issue may not be the next tactic. It may be the foundation underneath it.
